ህወሓት በኢትዮጵያዊያን እና በኢትዮጵያ ላይ ያሰፈነው ዘረኛና ፋሽስታዊ አገዛዝ እንዲያበቃ፤ በምትኩም ፍትህ፣ ነፃነት፣ እኩልነትና ዲሞክራሲ የሰፈኑበት የፓለቲካና የኢኮኖሚ ሥርዓት እንዲመሠረት እና የሀገራችን አንድነት በጠንካራ መሠረት ላይ ለማኖር አርበኞች ግንቦት 7: የአንድነትና ዲሞክራሲ ንቅናቄ ተገዶ የገባበት የመረረ የአመጽ ትግል መጀመሩን ይፋ ማድረጉ ይታወቃል። በዚህም መሠረት ኢትዮጵያዊያን የነፃነት አርበኞች በጀግነትና በጽናት እየታገሉ ነው።

ይህ ትግል በባርነትና በነፃነት መካከል የሚደረግ ወሳኝ ትግል ነው። የዚህ ትግል ውጤት የእኛ የዚህ ዘመን ትውልድ ሕይወት ብቻ ሳይሆን የአገራችንን የወደፊት ታሪክ፤ የልጅ ልጆቻችንን ሕይወት ይወስናል። በዚህም ምክንያት ይህንን ትግል በድል መወጣት ግዴታችን ነው። በዚህ ወሳኝ ወቅት ለነፃነት ግድ ያለው ኢትዮጵያዊ ሁሉ ከጎናችን ሊቆም ይገባል።

አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 አመራሩን ሁኔታዎች በፈቀዱ መጠን እና ትግሉ በሚጠይቀው ቦታ እንዲገኙ የሚያደርግ መሆኑ ሲገልጽ ቆይቷል። አሁን ትግሉ በደረሰበት ደረጃ የአመራሩ በትግሉ ሜዳ ውስጥ መገኘት አስፈላጊ መሆኑ ታምኖበት ሊቀመንበሩን ጨምሮ አመራሩን ወደ ትግሉ ሜዳ አንቀሳቅሷል። በዚህም መሠረት የንቅናቄው ሊቀመንበር ዶ/ር ብርሃኑ ነጋ ወደ ትግል ሜዳ ወርዷል።

ትግሉ መሯል። ወሳኝ የሆነ ትግል ውስጥ ገብተናል። የትግሉ መሪዎች የሕይወት መስዋዕትነት እሚከፈልበት ቦታ ይገኛሉ። በአሁኑ ሰዓት የንቅናቄው አመራር በተሟላ ሁኔታ በትግሉ ሜዳ ውስጥ እንዲገኝ ማድረግ ተችሏል። ኢትዮጵያዊያን እጅ ለእጅ ተያይዘን ዘረኛው የህወሓት አገዛዝን ከጫንቃችን ለማስወገድ ቆርጠን እንድንነሳ አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ጥሪ ያደርጋል።

ኢትዮጵያን ከህወሓት አገዛዝ ነፃ የሚያወጣው አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ብቻ አይደለም። ስለሆነም ከሌሎች ድርጅቶች ጋር የሚደረገው ትብብር ቀዳሚ ትኩረት ከተሰጣቸው ሥራዎች አንዱ ነው። አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ከሌሎች ኢትዮጵያዊያን ድርጅቶች ጋር በመተባበር የተቀጣጠለው ሕዝባዊ አመጽ ለድል እንዲበቃ ይታገላል። ኢትዮጵያዊያንም በያሉበትም በተመሳሳይ ልዩነቶቻቸውን አቻችለው በህወሓት ፋሽስታዊ አገዛዝ ላይ ክንዳቸውን እንዲያነሱ አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ጥሪ ያደርጋል።

እነሆ የአርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ሊቀመንበር ዶ/ር ብርሃኑ ነጋ በአካል ትግል ሜዳ ውስጥ ይገኛል። የሚችል ሁሉ እንዲከተል፤ መከተል የማይችል በያለበት ሁኖ ሁለገብ ትግሉን እንዲያጧጥፍ አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ጥሪ ያደርጋል።

UN demands release of British activist jailed in Ethiopia amid torture fears – The Guardian

The Foreign Office has pushed for consular access to Andargachew Tsige with no tangible results, since the British citizen was abducted in Ethiopia a year ago

The UN has demanded the immediate release of a Briton held on death row in Ethiopia for more than a year, an intervention that campaigners say exposes Britain’s poor diplomacy towards the case.

Experts from the UN Human Rights Council have advised Ethiopia to pay Andargachew Tsige “adequate compensation” before sending him home to London, an abrupt hardening of its position on the case at a time when Britain pursues a softly, softly approach with no tangible reward.

Internal Foreign Office emails, disclosed for the first time, reveal that even before Tsige was kidnapped and jailed in an unknown location in June 2014, British officials had voiced fears at “the real risk of torture if [Tsige is] returned to Ethiopia”, along with “fair trial concerns”.

An eight-page judgment from the UNHRC’s working group on arbitrary detention handed to Ethiopia suggests such fears have been realised, saying that there is “reliable evidence on a possible situation of physical abuse and mistreatment which could amount to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.”

Tsige, 60, a father of three from London, and known to friends as Andy, was arrested in Yemen’s main airport while in transit and forcibly removed to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

He is prominent in Ethiopian politics, having been leader of opposition party Ginbot 7, which has called for democracy, free elections and civil rights. The government has accused him of being a terrorist and in 2009 he was tried in his absence and sentenced to death.

Foreign secretary Philip Hammond has refused to demand his urgent release, preferring to push for consular access, a request rejected by Ethiopia. Tsige’s partner, Yemi Hailemariam, also a British national, who lives in London with their children, has spoken to him just once by telephone since his abduction.

Another internal government email from the UK ambassador to Ethiopia to Laurence Robertson MP, who heads the all-party parliamentary group on Ethiopia, describes the Ethiopians as “obdurate”.

Hammond recently attempted to harden up the UK’s position on Tsige, calling for rapid progress in the case, but campaigners say this remains significantly short of what is required. Another recent Foreign Office statement made no mention of Tsige, but welcomed the “generally peaceful environment” of the recent Ethiopian elections, which saw the government locking up political opponents and journalists.

Maya Foa, head of the death penalty team at legal charity Reprieve, said: “Despite the injustices that have been – and continue to be – committed against this British national, the foreign secretary refuses to ask for Andy’s release and his return back home to his family in Britain.

“The UN is right to be taking action and demanding Andy’s immediate release from his unlawful detention. The UK’s refusal to do the same is an unacceptable abdication of responsibility to one of its citizens.”

Kevin Laue of the human rights organisation Redress, which helps torture survivors, said: “The UK government should be outraged by this behaviour and should be responding in the strongest possible terms.” A Foreign Office spokesman said: “The foreign secretary has raised this case with the Ethiopian foreign minister on 13 separate occasions, most recently on 29 April 2015. The minister for Africa raised this again on 11 June. We will continue to lobby at all levels, conveying our concern over Andargachew Tsige being detained without regular consular visits and access to a lawyer.”

በህወሓት አገዛዝ እየተሰቃዩ ላሉ ወገኖቻችን ደህንነት የሚደረገው ዓለም አቀፍ ጫና ይቀጥል！

ከሣምንት በፊት የብሪታኒያ የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌን የሚመለከት አንድ መግለጫ አውጥቷል። በዚህ መግለጫው፣ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ ለአንድ ዓመት ሙሉ መሠረታዊ የሆኑ የታሳሪዎች መብት እንኳን ተነፍጎት ባልታወቀ እስር ቤት የሚገኝ መሆኑ እና በእንግሊዝ ባለሥልጣናትና በቤተሰቦቻቸው እንዲጠየቅ፣ ቋሚ የቆንስላና የህግ ምክር እንዲያገኝ በተደጋጋሚ የቀረበው ጥያቄ በወያኔ አገዛዝ ውድቅ መደረጉ በሁለቱ አገራት መካከል ያለው መልካም ግንኙነት የሚያሻክር መሆኑ ከወትሮው ጠንከር ባሉ ቃላት ገልጿል። አዲስ አበባ የሚገኘው የብሪታኒያ አምባሳደርም እንደዚሁ ከተለመደው ዲፕሎማሲያዊ ለስላሳነት ወጣ ያለ ያለ መግለጫ አዲስ አበባ ውስጥ ለሚታተመው ሪፓርተር ጋዜጣ ሰጥቷል። እነዚህ የሰሞኑ የእንግሊዝ መንግሥት መግለጫዎች በቀና የሚታዩ ቢሆንም የብሪታኒያ መንግሥት ማድረግ ይገባው ከነበረው እና ማድረግ ከሚችለው አንፃር ሲታይ ብዙ ይቀረዋል። የአውሮፓ ኅብረት የአቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ ጉዳይ በተደጋጋሚ አንስቷል። የተባበሩት መንግሥታትም የአቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ አያያዝ ጉዳይ ምርመራ እንዲደረግበት እንቅስቃሴ ጀምሯል። ከላይ የተዘረዘሩት ኩነቶች፣ በመላው ዓለም የሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያዊያን ያለሟቋረጥ የሚያደርጉት ውትወታ ውጤት እያመጣ መሆኑ ያሳያል። ይህ ጥረት ለወደፊቱም ተጠናክሮ መቀጠል ይኖርበታል።

በሌላ በኩል ደግሞ ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ “አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ አስልጥኖ አሰማርቷችኋል” ተብለው እንደተለመደው በሀሰት የተከሰሱ ወገኖቻችን “አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ስለሚገኙ መከላከያ ምስክር እንዲሆኑን ይታዘዝልን“ ብለው ሲጠይቁ ዳኛ ተብየው “የት እንደሚገኙ የማይታወቁ ሰውን በመከላከያ ምስክርነት ማቅረብ ይከብዳል” ብሎ ሲናገር ተደምጧል። አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ለምስክርነት ይቅረብ አይቅረብ ብይን ሊሰጥበት ቀጠሮ ተይዟል።

አርበኞች ግንቦት 7፡ የአንድነትና ዲሞክራሲ ንቅናቄ፣ የነፃነት አርበኛው የአቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ የእስር አያያዝ ሁኔታ ዓለም ዓቀፍ የዲፕሎማሲ አጀንዳ በሆነበት በዚህ ወቅት በህወሓት አገዛዝ በተሾመ ዳኛ “የት እንደሚገኙ የማይታወቁ” መባሉ አሳሳቢ ጉዳይ አድርጎ ይመለከተዋል። አርበኞች ግንቦት 7፣ በመላው ዓለም የሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያዊያን የተከሳሾች፣ የአቃቤ ህጉና የዳኛው ምልልስ ለተባበሩት መንግሥታት፣ ለአውሮፓ ኅብረትና ለእንግሊዝ መንግሥት እንዲደርስ እንዲያደርጉም ያሳስባል።

አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ ብቻ ሳይሆን በህወሓት እስርቤቶችና ከእስር ቤቶች ውጭ ባልታውቁ ቦታዎች ታስረው እየተሰቃዩ የሚገኙ ወገኖቻችን ሁሉ እና መላው የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ ነፃ የሚወጣው፣ ኢትዮጵያዊያን በሚያደርጉት ሁለገብ ትግል ነው ብሎ አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ያምናል። ስለሆነም ራሳችንን፣ ወገኖቻችንና አገራችን ነፃ ለማውጣት የምናደርገው ትግል ማጠናከር ግዴታችን ነው። እኛ ራሳችን እንጂ ማንም ነፃነታችንን አያጎናጽፈልንም።

ይህ እንዳለ ሆኖ ግን የህወሓትን እኩይ ተግባራት በዓለም አደባባዮች ማጋለጥ፤ የህወሓት አገዛዝን ወዳጅ ማሳጣት እና በእስር ላይ የሚገኙ ወገኖቻችንን ደህነት የሚያሻሽሉ ተጽዕኖዎችን መፍጠር እጅግ አስፈላጊ ተግባር በመሆኑ፣ በመላው ዓለም የሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያዊያን፣ በህወሓት እጅ ለወደቁ ወገኖቻችን ድጋፍ የሚያሰሙትን ድጋፍ አጠናክረው እንዲቀጥሉ ያሳስባል።

Alarm Bells for Ethiopia’s 100% Election Victory – Human Rights Watch

Elections where a ruling party wins 100 percent of the seats in parliament should always ring alarm bells. Results in Ethiopia from the May 24 general election, released yesterday, are no exception. According to Ethiopia’s National Electoral Board, the ruling Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) coalition won 546 parliamentary seats (with the 547th seat still to be announced).

The results shouldn’t be seen as a stamp of approval for Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn’s government – rather they are the inevitable outcome of a political system in which opposition parties face extraordinary challenges and nearly all avenues for citizens to engage in political debate are closed.

The seeds for this situation were sown years ago. Since the last election in 2010, in which the EPRDF won a mere 99.6 percent of parliamentary seats, political space has been further restricted: the independent media has been decimated, civil society groups virtually eliminated, and peaceful public demonstrations quelled, sometimes by force.

The crackdown on opposition parties and their supporters was the final piece of the puzzle. In the lead-up to the elections, the authorities arrested leading members of the opposition and put them on trial on trumped-up terrorism charges. Political parties reported difficulties in registering candidates and acquiring funds to which they are legally entitled. Security force personnel arrested and harassed people organizing rallies, confiscating their equipment and unfairly denying them permits. Over the last two weeks, several opposition members and candidates have been beaten to death in suspicious circumstances.

International observers were largely absent, choosing not to monitor a vote that provided little opportunity to be independent and effective observers. The African Union was the exception, concluding that the elections were “calm, peaceful, and credible” – a standard very different from being free and fair.

The European Union and the United States, two of Ethiopia’s key allies, were largely silent on the political crackdown. Instead, they congratulated Ethiopia for a “peaceful” election, more concerned with the increasing potential for violence than with a fair electoral landscape. This is short-sighted and dangerous. Authoritarian control rarely provides long-term stability and nearly always compounds significant human rights violations.

For many Ethiopians, the elections confirmed what they already knew: the ruling coalition completely controls all aspects of their daily life and permits no alternative political views. The question is, when will Ethiopia’s allies open their eyes?

The assassination of Samuel Aweke and Tadesse Abraha shall invigorate the struggle for freedom and justice

“I clearly understand that I may be imprisoned, but my conscience will still be free. I also know that they may kill me, but this is a price that must be paid for freedom. I am passing the torch and I appeal to people of my generation to carry the torch to the gates of freedom”

These were the words of Samuel Aweke, the latest victim of the ever brutal regime in Ethiopia.

Patriotic Ginbot 7, Movement for Unity and Democracy is deeply saddened by yet another brutal assassination of Samuel Aweke and Tadesse Abraha by the TPLF regime. The 29 years old lawyer, Samuel Aweke was a Blue Party member who ran in the May 24 election in his home town of Debre Markos. His political carrier started at the tender age of 19 when he joined Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD) in 2005. Samuel Aweke, a young man revered and loved by many, was a proven leader who had endless love for freedom and justice.

Samuel was a community organizer and a columnist for one of the local online newspapers who was in the radar of the TPLF regime for a long time. Days before the May 2015 election, Samuels was brutally beaten by the ruling party cadres in an attempt to deter his candidacy representing the Blue party. During the Beating, the brute cadres repeatedly told Samuel that he can no more practice law in Ethiopia and he may also lose his life if he does not refrain himself from any kind of opposition activities. The courageous Samuel clearly knew that his days on earth were numbered, but he never gave up his struggle for justice and democracy.

Mr. Abraha was a member of the Arena- Medrek party who like Mr. Aweke repeatedly received warnings and death threats from the ruling party cadres. Mr. Abraha, who was choked to death by three plain closed security officers was a true ambassador of freedom and justice. We strongly believe that, it is the love and trust these two heroes earned from millions of Ethiopians and the passion they have for freedom and justice that eventually brought their young and unfulfilled life to a shockingly sad and sudden end.

With a continuously growing financial aid and diplomatic cover by the US, UK and EU, the TPLF regime has been arresting, torturing, and killing innocent Ethiopians for almost a quarter of a century. The Ethiopian people have patiently waited for 24 years hoping that the regime will come to its senses and improve political conditions, but five elections latter, the brutal TPLF regime has 100% control of the parliament and the political space has been totally closed for opposition politics. In the meantime, the arrest, the torture and the killing has continued unabated.

Patriotic Ginbot 7 condemn the brutal killing of these two political activists in its strongest term and to bring such politically motivated killings to an end, we call upon all Ethiopians to rise united against tyranny. Patriotic Ginbot7 believes that the Ethiopian people have the inalienable right to defend themselves from tyranny. This right is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the constitution of many democratic countries. The Ethiopian people are patient, but it should be understood that patience is not to endlessly wait for something to happen. Patience is how we behave and what alternatives we look while we’re waiting. Patriotic Ginbot 7 strongly believes now the wait is over and the time has come to exercise our inalienable right to rebel against tyranny and oppression. We also believe that the international community will stand with us in our struggle for freedom, justice and democracy.
